Barry Douglas, leader of the international blues scene, is in town on the 14-16th December to give you an intensive boost of blues dancing.
Even before starting his formal dance training, which began at the age of 12, Barry was learning Blues on the feet of his grandfather. He grew up listening to stories about the "Black Bottom" , the "Dirty Boogie" and the party days of the Juke Joints and Speak Easies and as he got older learned Swing and Foxtrot from his mother. His fascination with these stories and others about Blues music and dance with such rich history - founded in slavery - is what started his long journey in the world of dance. He is certified in 16 different styles and has students in 19 countries but his love in dance always was and still is, BLUES.
*More thoughts on the level: This is a one class for all workshop aimed at people who really want to learn the ins and outs of Blues technique. It's not a 'party workshop/class'. If you have never done blues before, see this as the best opportunity to start - learning from Barry. If you have been dancing a while I very much encourage you to not assume that this workshop will be 'below your level'! I am quite skeptical with regards to levels in general you see...
*Parties. Venues are yet to be confirmed. However we will have a 5-member live band on one of the nights (check out Skulduggery Swing!) and get the best DJs in town to play (lead by the wonderful Duc) All workshop participants will have a free party pass.
